Parenting Support For New or Struggling Parents

Speech Delays

Behavior Momentum not only uses ABA for children with disabilities, we use ABA with all children regardless of diagnosis. By using procedures based on  B.F. Skinner’s analysis of verbal behavior, language can be taught to all learners. This method of teaching language focuses on a words function, not its form.

Difficult Behaviors

Having difficulties with your child’s behavior? No Problem, we can help!

Our analysts conduct functional analysis to determine the function of the problem behavior. Once the function is determined, science based principles and procedures are used to change behavior. ABA can be used with all children even if they do not meet criteria for a specific label. Our expert analysts have experience working with a multitude of difficult behaviors and diagnoses including: aggression, aversions and phobias, bedtime struggles, classroom difficulties, communication difficulties, conduct disorders, defiant behaviors, Down Syndrome, enuresis and encopresis, food refusal and selectivity, mouthing and PICA, OCD, oppositional behaviors, self-injurious behavior (SIB), stereotypical behaviors, tantrum behaviors.

Verbal Behavior Services

Our treatment approach is based on  B.F. Skinner’s analysis of verbal behavior. This method of teaching language focuses on a words function, not its form. As a result, language is classified into functional categories (verbal operants). Behavioral classification of language includes primary verbal behaviors and non-verbal behaviors. Primary verbal behaviors include: Mands (requesting), Tacts (labeling), Echoics (vocal) and Intraverbal (Wh questions). Non-verbal behavior includes: Listener Behavior (receptive language).

All of these skills are taught in the child’s environment using Natural Environment Training  (NET). Teaching in the natural environment creates opportunities for teaching skills in a natural way, it promotes verbal behavior, it allows for increased teaching opportunities and increased access to reinforcement.

Parent Coaching

At Behavior Momentum we believe in empowering our parents. Once the therapists are gone, it is important that the parent have the ability to work with their child. Teaching you how to manage difficult behaviors and increasing functional skills is important to your child success. Our analysts teach you specific procedures identified during the assessment to assist you with your child. If anything else comes up along the way, we are always available to help.

Virtual Learning/Home School Support

Behavior Momentum offers services to support your child academically in your home. We also provide in home support to help your child during their virtual learning sessions. Our therapists have experience working with students of all abilities and skill levels in school settings and will support your child to minimize behaviors and avoid that academic slide.
